What makes us different?  We are proud to tell the stories of the farmers and producers who supply our restaurant and support our mission. We could not do what we do without the amazing growers, wine makers, brewers and producers of New York State!

Slate Creek Farm - Remsen, NY

Livestock Farming is a labor of love, and devotion to our food source.   The differences between a family run livestock operation and commercial operations that treat our food as a commodity are myriad and vast.  Jen Rankin is in service to her animals at all times, and her concern for their health and well-being is paramount.   Those commitments are evident in the quality of her products and her service to our culinary team.  Jen is committed to our success as if it were her own, and us to hers.   Her pork and beef are some of the finest we have worked with, and we look forward to many years of partnership.

Jones Family Farm - Herkimer, NY

One of our longest standing farm partners, Jones Family Farm provides The Tailor and the Cook with wonderful quality cheeses, poultry and eggs.  Suzie and Peter Jones are among the reasons why we started this farm to table concept over 12 years ago.   It is the friendships and the relationships that develop from knowing the people who produce the food we eat that make the story so much more delicious.  You can purchase their products in so many places in our community as well, including in their farm store.

Collins Creamery - Rome, NY

While the concept of a "milkman" has changed a lot in the past few generations, we are so happy to have cultivated that sense of community with the Collins family.  Their milk and cheese curds are truly a cornerstone of our menus, and we are so proud to represent their brand through our partnership.   Sammi and John Collins are a great team, and they are dairy farmers through and through.  Their care for the cows and the milk is evident in everything they do.  We know how hard it is to run an independent Dairy in this day and age, and we take great pride in working with them.

Common Thread Farm - Madison, NY

Whether you are a member of their CSA or you are enjoying the "fruits" of their labors here at The Tailor and the Cook, there is little doubt as to the part that Wendy and Asher Burkhart-Spiegel and their farm crew play in our local food economy.  Common Thread is no hobby farm - they are a robust and finely tuned vegetable farm, turning out high quality organic produce for us and our community 12 months a year.   We are so lucky to have a farm who can produce such a volume of incredible, delicious veggies for us and our guests!

Homegrown Stories: Food Bank of Central New York

In November of 2024, we were proud to partner with the Food Bank of Central New York to bring meals to families in need. For every meal we serve at our restaurant, one meal will be donated to a family in our area.

Homegrown Stories: Grey Barn Farm

Dan and Stephanie Button are not just farmers, but stewards of the land they sow and harvest to provide us with flowers and produce nearly 12 months per year. Dan's commitment to quality and sustainability aligns perfectly with our mission at The Tailor and the Cook and our partnership has evolved over the years to a place where we now take all the product that the farm can produce. That sort of relationship requires a great deal of trust and faith from all sides, and yet it is remarkably easy to maintain.

We are so grateful for the incredible food and flowers that the Button's provide See more, or book a reservation at tailorandthecook.com

Anthony Road Wine Company - Penn Yan, NY

A family run business in the truest sense of the phrase, Anthony Road is operated by the second generation of the Martini Family - all four of them, and their spouses.  Founded in 1973 by Ann and John Martini, this wonderful winery is an integral part of the FLX Wine story.  Winemaker Peter Becraft's incredible selection of wines only tastes better knowing the Martini family and their rich history on Seneca Lake.  We are thankful for their wines and their friendship.

Hosmer Winery - Ovid, NY

A cornerstone of quality wines in the FLX, the Hosmer Family is well known for exceptional viticulture and winemaker Julia Hoyle carries that tradition of craftsmanship into the production of a curated line up of NYS wines.  Boasting some of the best values in the FLX, Hosmer has carved out a place both literally; on Cayuga Lake - and figuratively; with their community minded approach to wine and grapes.  Their Pinot Noir and Sauvignon Blanc are some of our most popular by the glass wines, year in and year out for us here at T&C.

Apollo's Praise - Rock Stream, NY

Kelby Russell and Julia Hoyle, both FLX winemakers of acclaim have recently taken on the daunting task of creating a Winery and Brand at one of the most dynamic vineyards in NYS. Lahoma Vineyard, on the southwest shore of Seneca Lake has been producing grapes for many years but only recently, when Kelby and Julia took over could those grapes be considered "estate fruit". While our partnership is in its early stages, we are so proud to support Apollo's Praise and are thrilled to offer quite a few selections from their inaugural vintage wines here at The Tailor and the Cook!

Six Eighty Cellars - Ovid, NY

One of the newest wineries in the Finger Lakes, Six Eighty Cellars is blazing their own trail in the creation of some very interesting wines using some trendsetting methodology.  While many of these practices are ancient in their origin, they are new to the FLX.  Winemaker Ian Barry and the Pittard family are thinking outside the box with their portfolio of wines from cool climate grapes made with care and imagination.  Six Eighty also boasts one of the most majestic views in the FLX, perched high above Cayuga Lake.
